The Abt RS7 Legacy Edition sends off Audi’s 4.0-liter V8 with an almighty bang. Read more about the modified 760hp super sedan here.

As you may know, Audi is winding down its use of internal combustion engines in favor of an electrified future. As such, they’ve given some of their most iconic gas-guzzling performance cars a special edition send-off in the shape of the R8 GT RWD and TT RS IE.

However, within those goodbyes, Audi has overlooked the sort of car which it is perhaps best known for – its sports sedans. Happily, renowned Volkswagen Group tuner and hugely successful race team, Abt Sportsline, has come up with the goods for them instead. Meet the Abt RS7 Legacy Edition.

Engine Mods

Alright, perhaps it would’ve been more appropriate to celebrate a more heralded nameplate like the RS4, but if you’re going to give a platform a proper send-off, I guess you gotta use the top of the range as the canvas, right? Alongside its more practical RS6 wagon cousin, there’s no doubt that the RS7 is top dog amongst Audi’s range of daily drivers.

In fact, from the factory, it’s quite a beast. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 churns out 591hp and 590lb ft of torque in its basic form, and the Performance variant outputs 630hp and 627lb ft respectively. For most people, that sort of grunt is more than enough for public roads. In fact, mistreat a car with an engine this powerful, and you’ll certainly know about it. However, Abt seems to have taken a leaf out of Hennessey’s book, and decided that when it comes to horsepower, more is always better.

Consequently, the Abt RS7 Legacy Edition has been endowed with bigger turbos, and uprated intercooler, and Abt’s in-house ECU. That combination lifts the V8’s output to a massive 760hp and 723lb ft of torque. So, while its heft might prevent it from hanging with supercars through twisty corners, it’ll certainly keep them honest on the straights.

Chassis & Styling Mods

Those of you with a keen eye will have noted that Abt’s changes aren’t restricted to under the hood, either. Abt has added their own coilovers and dampers into the mix, giving the car its new lower, meaner stance (and hopefully slightly better handling too). On top of that, you get a bunch of aero goodies such as a fixed rear wing and various other carbon black assortments like a front splitter and side blades.

The revised exhaust tips are part of a full Abt exhaust system, featuring a 102mm diameter which should give the RS7’s V8 a very powerful swansong indeed.

Inside, you’ll find plenty of nods to the fact that this is one of Abt’s special creations, and not just any old Audi. New suede-like fabric trim furnishings accompany an alcantara steering wheel, while the Abt logo is embroidered in the seats and floor mats.

Limited to 200 production units, it could be yours for an as yet unconfirmed six-figure sum.
